Metro Caring Community:

I hope that you are doing well and enjoying the summertime! The past few years have brought all of us face-to-face with difficult challenges, and I wish rest, wellbeing, and restoration for you all.

Our staff, volunteers, and community can attest to the recent demands of our work in the nonprofit sector. Many of us and our colleagues at partner organizations are in need of time away to return refreshed and avoid burnout. At Metro Caring, we gave all our employees a paid week off in June, thanks to a generous funding partner. We all had time to focus on wellness and enjoy the sunshine.

To focus more deeply on my own wellbeing, I am utilizing our sabbatical leave benefit at Metro Caring to take a few months away from the office. I wanted to inform you all, our community, that I am beginning my leave now and will return in November. I’m focusing on personal wellness and investing in time with my family.

I also plan to explore causes and possible solutions to the endemic leadership burnout in our sector. Our sector’s work is important to support and make change in our communities, and we need everyone strong, healthy, and at their best.

I do hope to see all of you at Cornucopia, where I will not be speaking and working this year, but there to celebrate and support our work as a donor and supporter. I look forward to sharing what I learn and reconnecting with you when I return this fall. I hope you all can make time to invest in your wellbeing and relationships as well. Be well and take care!
