Many of us carry experiences of trauma, stress, and survival into the places where we live, work, and connect. Trauma-Informed Spaces & Systems explores how physical environments and administrative systems can create additional burdens and how a solidarity approach can help us redesign those conditions to support dignity, agency, belonging, and participation. During this training, participants will:
- Explore how trauma can shape the brain, body, behavior, and participation
- Recognize the learning, compliance, and psychological costs of administrative burden
- Examine how spaces, policies, processes, and technology can consume bandwidth or give some of it back
- Use solidarity and lived expertise to identify barriers and opportunities for change
- Practice redesigning spaces and systems to reduce harm, share burden, and preserve agency
