Volunteer Truck Driver

Metro Caring, Colorado’s leading anti-hunger organization, is accepting applications for a Volunteer Truck Driver to join the Food Access team. While training and onboarding will be provided, we are interested in applicants who have some of the following skills, abilities, experience, or interest:

  • Knowledge and/or experience working with community-based organizations (including neighborhood, religious, and civic organizations)
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a busy, fast paced environment
  • Commercial vehicle driving experience

REQUIRED          

  • Prior experience driving a 16’ and 26’ truck a plus, but training will be provided
  • A current valid Colorado driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Maintain a clean driving record while volunteering as a Metro Caring truck driver
  • Successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Familiarity with the Denver Metro area and suburbs a plus
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes (65 lbs.+), ability to work independently, ability to climb up into the back of delivery truck, ability to secure pallets of food product to minimize spills/accidents
  • Ability and willingness to complete an electric pallet jack and forklift certification
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Availability for a once/weekly volunteer shift between 9AM-12PM

FOOD ACCESS VOLUNTEER TRUCK DRIVER DUTIES

  • Responsible for completing at least once weekly volunteer driving shift
  • Responsible for communicating any required maintenance or damage to Metro Caring vehicles
  • Represent Metro Caring’s values demonstrate an attitude of gratitude with all donor partners
  • Support waste, composting, and recycling programs to ensure that environmental and food safety standards are being met
